A client had two vintage windows that she knew she wanted to use somehow to decorate the space above the sliding glass door to her outdoor deck. When I first received the windows they were painted white. First, I created a crackle finish on the wood frame with an undercoat of deep red and overcoat of black. The glass panes were then painted with a modern design comprised of the homeowner's favorite flowers, in shades of yellows, reds, oranges, and white. The windows hang horizontally above the glass doorway, on metal hooks painted to match the windows.
This is an innovative use of recycled house parts to solve a difficult decorating challenge!
