I have been involved with the Monsignor Schnacky Community Players in Mendon, NY for many years. I designed and (with the help of some selfless volunteers) executed a set design for a three-act melodrama for the 2008 season. The setting began in Texas in the 1920s. This set backdrop had to be completely 2-dimensional because of the number of actors and props the stage needed to accomodate during this scene. Everything, including the signs are painted on.
Though theater set development is fairly new for me, I approached the project as I do all my mural work. Research and preparation is always essential! |
